The Trustees of the Overseas Mauritians Aid Trust (OMAT) have 
ensured over the years that the organisation is self financed. This
has helped the organisation to survive and achieve its objectives
even when external funding has dried up because of difficult
economic situation as in the United Kingdom at present.

Our fundraising has been in the form of social events such as open
days, pilgrimages and dances on top of donations from various
sources. Once we manage to complete the construction of the
Education and Training Centre and Crèche at Curepipe, we intend
to operate in a similar way in Mauritius.

The Trust works closely with other organisations and individuals to
achieve its objectives. Working Committees are currently being set
up in Mauritius to enable OMAT (Mauritius) Limited to recruit skilled
and experienced individuals in the short term to speed up the set up
of our various projects. In the long run, OMAT (Mauritius) Limited
will have to employ its own staff or operate through co-operatives.

Currently, OMAT (Mauritius) Limited relies heavily on its Directors
and a handful of volunteers.  The Overseas Mauritians Aid Trust is
also in close contact with various organisations and individuals in
Mauritius, the United Kingdom, France, Canada and Australia because
the aim of the Trust is to enlist the help and goodwill of Mauritian
families and communities wherever they may be.
